Zach Wainwright is College Track & Field Conference Champion

2013 May 20

First-year pharmacy student and track athlete at St. Louis College of Pharmacy (STLCOP) Zach Wainwright of Clifton, Ill., became the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) men's 400m Hurdles champion at the conference championship track meet on April 27 in Berea, Ky. His time of 1:00.04 won the event by more than a second and broke the STLCOP record for the 400m Hurdles. Wainwright also earned all-conference honors as a member of STLCOP's second-place 4x100m relay team.

Traveling to the conference meet with only 15 athletes, the STLCOP Eutectics returned to St. Louis with 11 All-Conference performances and having scored 119 points. Wainwright contributed 12 points to the STLCOP Eutectics' second place finish of five teams competing.

Wainwright is the son of Danny and Rebecca Wainwright of Clifton, Ill. He is a 2012 graduate of Central High School where he competed for the cross country and track and field teams and participated in math team, quiz bowl, FFA, rifle team, and varsity club.

In its 20th year of existence, the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Athletic Program is a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) and includes women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track & field, men's and women's tennis, and softball.

The College's mascot - the Eutectic - is a common term in pharmacy describing the scientific process of two solids being combined to form a liquid. It is the perfect metaphor for the St. Louis College of Pharmacy's Athletic Program - combining athletics and a demanding academic program.
