Alexander Owens of Waltonville, Ill. Graduates from St. Louis College of Pharmacy

2013 May 10

Alexander Owens has graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The commencement ceremony was held at Peabody Opera House in St. Louis on May 5, 2013.

Owens was one of 173 students to receive a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.

Owens is the child of John and Jane Owens and is a graduate of Waltonville High School.

"I have gotten to know the members of the Class of 2013 very well," College President John A. Pieper, Pharm.D., told the assembled crowd. "This is an extraordinary group of men and women. I can assure you that I believe today's graduates and their fellow student pharmacists at our College are smarter, harder workers, and more dedicated to community service than any student pharmacists in the United States."

International pharmacy leader Henri Manasse Jr., Ph.D., Sc.D. (Hon.), FFIP, was the featured speaker. He directed the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) as executive vice president and chief executive officer from 1997 through 2012.

Having completed six years of pre-professional and professional pharmacy education, Owens now joins more than 200,000 pharmacists in the United States. This year's Commencement is the 145th in the College's history. The graduates come from 11 states and South Korea.
